Here and There

These freezing temperatures are making me want to just stay inside, but I can't. The last two days we haven't done much. I have just been working half days and Tyler is trying to adjust. This week he has his original teacher back since she was gone last week due to being sick. This week he hasn't cried as much, but is still having hard time. I was asked last week if I wanted a head teacher position in the 2yr old room, which I thought wouldn't be too bad and I get to pick when I want to work. I decided to take the challenge and will be working 7-3 everyday. It will be nice to get off at 3 and for Tyler to be able to go home and take a nap if he needs too. We will see how this works. Last night we went to my grandma's to watch the Miss America pageant since we don't get that channel anymore. I wanted to see if Miss South Dakota would get anything. She is from my home town. She didn't win, but it was nice to see someone you knew on T.V. Today after work Tyler and I went home. I came home and made supper and then we watched American Idol. I just love that show. I like to watch the auditions, since there are some goofy people. I hope everybody has a great week. Here is a picture of Tyler on his cycle that his Grandpa Bob gave him for Christmas. He sure loves his cycle!! His cycle can be used three ways, pushed, rocker, or just pedal cycle. He likes to rock his cycle.

Busy Weekend

We had a busy weekend. On Friday after I got off work Tyler and I came home and packed. We went to Sioux Falls to stay with my grandma because Dan had a cattle show at the fairgrounds. On Saturday we tried to stay warm, but we had to go outside to go to the cattle show. Tyler loves to see cows. We went to the show for a little bit and then went back to my grandma's to wait for Dan. We stayed and ate supper with my grandma and then headed home. On Sunday we had to go grocery shopping, we have no food. Dan cleaned out our fridge, so that left us with nothing. We went back to Sioux Falls to do some errands and Dan had to stop at his friends place to get some of his things out of his show box. After we got home from Sioux Falls we put everything away and then just relaxed and to get ready for the week. I hope everybody is keeping warm. Have a great week.

Doctor Appt.

I know I haven't posted for awhile, so I thought I would update everybody on what is going on with us. This week I have been working half days, which is nice to have the morning with Tyler. Tyler is still having a hard time adjusting to daycare. Today, (Thursday) he cried most of the afternoon and didn't take a nap, so he feel asleep on the way home and was still sleeping on the couch when we got home. Dan and I made supper and then woke him up, but that was a wrong thing to do. He is so crabby and only wants his mommy, which isn't bad. I just don't know what to do about him and daycare.

Wednesday I had my doctor appointment about my tonsils, but we didn't get very far. The doctor wanted my records from my other doctor back home to determine if he is going to take my tonsils out. He did say that my tonsils were swollen and had junk back there, but by just looking at one sheet that said I had tonsillitis. The doctor wanted to keep on the same medication for another week and then have me come back Feb. 7 to see what we are going to do. By then he will have my other records to help him out. The doctor did say that its worse when you are older and I knew that. My mom came with me to the doctor and then we went shopping for jeans, which was a chore. Tyler was not happy yesterday (Wednesday), which I didn't know why. I did finally find 2 pairs of jeans at our last store. Tyler and I had a wonderful time with my mom. This weekend we are going to be in Sioux Falls for the Sioux Empire farm show. Friday night we are going to stay with my grandma and then just hang out on Sat. Tyler and I will go back and forth from the cattle show. Sunday will be a relaxing day at home. I will try and post on Sunday. I hope everybody has a great weekend.

Monday Madness

Last night I got a phone call from work to ask me if I could come in early, so I said ya I can. So instead of Tyler being there a half day he would be there all day. Luckily I had to cover Tyler's room, so he got to be with me all morning. It was nice to see what its like in Tyler's room, but I found out that children that are all the same age are hard to take care of. If one cries they all cry. Whenever I left the room Tyler would scream. I know it takes time for children to get use to everything, but Tyler is sure taking it hard. When I am not in the room I can hear him crying for straight half-hour increments, sometimes longer. The only thing that makes Tyler comfortable is a bottle and blanket. He drinks a lot of bottles, which isn't good. I know the nap thing is hard for him, because they don't take morning naps they just take afternoon naps and they have to lay down on a mat to sleep, which everybody that knows Tyler he will not lay down on the floor and sleep. Well, then the teacher that was in there came and got me because she thought Tyler was getting sick because he would cry when he coughed or always drink a bottle, so she thought he may be getting strep throat. He did have a fever there, but Dan and I left early and to find out he didn't have a fever and he was fine when he got home. Tyler played with toys and was laughing, so I don't know what that deal was. I guess he isn't happy there. I know everybody tells that it takes time, but he hasn't really had a good day since he has been there. After we brought Tyler home we had to take Sadie to Sioux Falls to meet her aunt to take her home and then I went to Hartford to pick up our family pictures, so everybody will finally be getting cards from us. I know a little late, but at least I will feel better if I still send out cards out. Then on our way to Sioux Falls I had to drop Dan off at his friends place where he has cattle to help load things for the cattle show. While I waited for Dan, he took longer then he expected, so Tyler and I went to his aunt and uncle"s in Hartford to visit. Finally, Dan called around 8:30 to come pick him up, so we could finally go home. When we got home we put Tyler to bed and ended the night watching our T.V. show. I hope everybody has a great night.

Laid Back Weekend

I know I haven't posted for awhile, so I will fill in you in with everything that is happening with us. On Friday night Tyler came back from grandma Brenda's late with Dan and his little sister. Dan's sister stayed with us this weekend to help Dan with cattle on Saturday. Dan had to clip cattle to get them ready for their cattle show this coming up weekend in Sioux Falls. While Dan and Sadie were working with cattle Tyler and I stayed home and rested. We had a fun day playing with toys. I had to go to Dell Rapids to get milk and then I picked up some movies. By the time I did that Sadie wanted to come back to our house, so I picked her up in Baltic and then did my errands and went home. We ended the night going out to eat at the corner-meaning our gas station's cafe and watched movies.
On Sunday we all stayed home. The weather was crappy, so it was a good day to finish watching our movies. We took it easy all day. Tyler and Sadie were having fun on his Trike. Sadie was pushing him around the house and Tyler was have a blast laughing and wanting to go fast. I hope everybody had a great weekend!!!

Another Day

My throat is starting to feel better. It doesn't hurt as bad, so that is good. Yesterday I felt really bad because I wasn't feeling good at all, so I had no energy to keep up with Tyler. I think Tyler knew that I was sick and could barely talk, so he thought it would be cool to get into anything and everything he wasn't suppose to. I decided to call Dan's mom to come get Tyler. She called me earlier and said that she would pick him, so I could rest. I thought I was going to be able to take care of him, but found out that I couldn't keep up with him. Dan's mom came and picked him and I rested the rest of the day. Yesterday ( Thursday) I was still in some pain,but it was getting better.

Last night after Dan got home we needed to do laundry bad because we have been unable to do it because our washer is broke. When we try to wash it smells like something is burning, so we called our landlords, but trying to get a hold of them is hard. Dan finally got a hold of them on Tuesday and they are suppose to fix it soon I hope. Dan and I went to Dell Rapids to laundry, but to find out that they close at 8:30, there was no way we would be done in time, so we decided to go to Sioux Falls to do laundry and the only one Dan could think of was the one close to where he use to live and we found out that it was connected to a bar, so it was smokey and Yuck!!! We ended up just doing it there and trying to get out of there fast as we could. We had a total of 12 loads, that is a lot. Then when we dried them they weren't drying and we weren't going to spend more money to dry, so we loaded up and dried them at home. Dan and I were so mad because we spend a lot of money to wash and dry and they still didn't come dry. So through out the night we had to dry clothes and we couldn't sleep in our bed because our bedding was wet, so it wasn't a good night. I am glad that Tyler wasn't with us because that would of been hard for him to sit there. I guess we live and learn!! I am still home from work today (Friday) I am hoping that I start to get some energy. The ear, nose and throat specialist called me yesterday and I have an appointment on Wednesday at 10:15, so I hope he helps me out. Tyler is coming home tonight after Dan gets done with clipping cattle and I can't wait to see him. I miss him so much! I hope everybody has a wonderful Friday and weekend!!

Strep Throat

Yesterday was my worst day ever. I have been dealing with a bad sore throat for a week and then I woke up yesterday morning and couldn't swallow and my throat was so swollen. I went to work yesterday with having a ten hour day ahead of me I was wondering if I was going to make it. While I was work I started get body aches starting with my lower back all the way down to my toes. I was in so much pain I can't even explain and then about hour or two later I was aching from my head all the way to my toes. I hurt so bad and I didn't know what hit me. I have never experienced this much pain all over my body before. I told my boss that I wasn't feeling well, but we were short handed, so I had to gut it out until close to 6. I had to take care of close to 20 children. When I finally left work Dan took me to Sioux Falls to acute care and we found out that I had severe strep throat. The doctor looked at my throat and couldn't believe how bad my throat was swollen. I can't go to work for sure today (Thursday) and probably won't be going tomorrow if I still feel like this. I am currently on two antibiotics. I wish this medicine would work faster. I can barely talk and for sure can't eat much sides malts or something really cold, which could be a good thing. I could finally maybe loose some weight. :) The doctor did say that he was going to have a ear, nose, and throat specialist call me today to make an appointment to see if I need my tonsils out. I have had strep throat twice within a month or so. OK enough of my problems.

Tyler is still having a hard time at daycare and I am not sure if its the atmosphere. Yesterday (wed) he cried most of the day, so my boss let him be with me from time to time. Today, since I am home he is with me and he is just happy go lucky in a good mood. The other day when I got him ready to go to work he fought me to put his coat and shoes on, so I don't know what his deal is. Tuesday he did fine there, so who knows. The good thing is Tyler shouldn't catch my strep throat because he is currently on medication for his cold, so that is good. Well, I hope everybody has a great day.

Tyler's second day

Tyler had his second day at daycare today. His day went better than his first. Tyler didn't cry to much. The worse part about his day was he didn't sleep much, maybe for fifteen minutes :( that is obvious is not enough for him. Tyler is usually use to getting 2-two hour naps. My day at work was long and I don't know why. I had a child that was horrible for me, so I think that made my day long. After I got off work Tyler and I headed home and then he helped me make supper and then after supper we watched some American Idol and then put Tyler to bed. I hope everybody has a wonderful night.

Work day 2

Today, was my second day of work. I didn't have long hours I went in at noon and was off by 5:45, so that wasn't too bad. The best thing is that Tyler and I got to sleep in this morning and then did our usual morning. We have our breakfast and then watch Jay-Jay the Jet plane. Tyler likes to watch this show most days. If Tyler isn't sitting on my lap or eating; he is playing with his toys or getting into mischief. :) Dan had to take Tyler to the doctor for his check-up and shots. Dan asked about his cold or whatever he has and the doctor said it was a sinus or allergy problem. I am beginning to not like doctors because I took him in not too long ago and he said it was a cold. Thankfully we still have some medicine from last time to give him, so hopefully he gets better soon. When I got home from work Tyler was a little fussy. I am sure its because his legs hurt from his shots and he just doesn't feel good. :( I don't have to go to work until noon, so its nice that Tyler gets to sleep in. Tyler does an excellent job in the morning. He usually doesn't get until 8:30-9:00, sometimes its earlier. Tomorrow will be interesting with him going back to daycare. I hope his second day is better than his first. I will sure let everybody know how it went. I hope everybody had a wonderful Monday!

Weekend Fun!

I haven't posted for awhile, so I thought I would write about our weekend. On Friday, we did our ritual by going to Dell Rapids to rent movies and go out for pizza. After we got home we got Tyler ready for bed and then Dan I watched a movie.

On Saturday we had our Christmas with my dad and grandma. My dad lives in Rapid City, so he doesn't come back to often. Before we went to my grandmas for dinner we went to the mall to pick up some presents for my dad and grandma. Then we headed over to grandmas to eat and open presents. Tyler loves his present from Grandpa Bob. He got a 3 in one trike (Not sure on spelling). This trike of his starts as a rocker then can be switched to a push and then at last just a trike that he can peddle. Dan and I just got money, which is what we wanted :) Then after we left my grandma's we have been wanting and needing a new bed, so we went bed shopping. All the money that we got from Christmas we were going to put it together and buy a bed. We found one and we spent A LOT more then we wanted to, but its a nice one. Then after we spent a lot money we had to go to Wal-mart to go grocery shopping, which we hate doing because it seems like we never buy that much, but we can't get out of there less than hundred. After we were done shopping we grabbed something to eat and then went home. We ended the night watching another movie and then to bed.

Today, Dan went to his friends Greg's to put a door in and work with cattle. Tyler and I stayed home and cleaned the spare bedroom so we could re-arrange (Not sure on Spelling) rooms to fit our new bed in our room and our old bed in the spare bedroom. We also have a futon, which ended up going to Tyler's room, so its kinda crowded in there. When I told Dan where we were putting everything he didn't like it because he hates to move things around. In the afternoon I met him at his friends place and we then went to Sioux Falls to pick up our new bed. I wanted to do some other shopping, but the weather was nasty, so we got something to eat and picked up our bed and ventured home. After we got home we unloaded our HEAVY bed that I had to help with and then switch our rooms around. We finally got everything done! We ended the night watching our last two movies. I hope our new bed sleeps excellent. I am so excited!!! I hope everybody has a wonderful week.

Frustrated

Yesterday, I took Tyler to an ear specialist to see if we can get some answers. I guess I hoping to much. We didn't get any answers all we got was his ears look fine today. If he gets many ear infections within six months then I am suppose to take him back and then he may re-evaluate to see if he needs tubes. The doctor yesterday made me feel so stupid. I just don't understand that his ears look bad one day and then find the next. I asked the doctor about his walking and he said that he is only 15 months and he is just learning he won't be walking like us right away. I was so mad and about to cry because it made me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. Tyler has been walking for awhile now, so I just don't believe that. Dan and I are at our wits end with this. Dan has always said he hated doctors and yesterday didn't add to it. So we shall see what is going to happen. I hope everybody is having a great Friday.

Long Day

Today, was my first day at my job and let me tell you it was a long day. I had to be up by 5 A.M to get ready and get Tyler ready. I had to be at work at 7 and didn't leave until 5:30 P.M. This was a long day for Tyler and I. The best thing was that Dan and I can carpool to work. Tyler had a rough day at his new daycare. I was about ready to say this isn't working, but I got to be in his room for an hour with him so he did fine for the time I was in there. I was hoping it would help, but once I left the crying and screaming started again. Usually Tyler does really well going to people, but I don't know something about today he didn't like. I know its been awhile since he has been around other kids and plus he has had me all day and everyday for almost a month. The afternoon got better for him, but he had his moments. I had a hard time because I would hear him crying/screaming. Then he would be by the gate and would see me walk by and then it was the end of the world, so this could be interesting. The job for me went well, its just a lot of information all at once. At times I felt overwhelmed. This was my only day this week, because Tyler is finally going to an ear specialist. I have been dealing with his ears for quite some time. He keeps pulling on them and he walks like he is "drunk" I have taken him to the doctor and acute care and all they would say was they look perfect or well, they are a little pink, but not bad enough to be treated with medication. I have tried the chiropractic, but no luck with that. The chiropractic has helped his back and neck get into place. Tyler has had one or two really bad ear infections and that is it. Dan and I have just been tired of dealing with it, so I asked another specialist. Tyler had a check up at his other specialist doctor for his constipation and acid reflux, so I thought I would ask him about his ears and he actually look deep inside and to find out that there is an area that is completely closed and he told me that I should see a specialist right away, so that brings me to his appointment tomorrow(Thursday). I am hoping we get somewhere. So I will inform you on what we find out tomorrow (Thursday).

First Day of blogging/Testing Patience

This is my first day attempting to blog. Tyler's previous daycare provider has a blog and I check it everyday. I enjoy reading about her family. I thought it would be a neat way to post what is happening in our family. I can tell you that we are a boring family nothing too exciting happens here.

First, I would like to share a little about my family. My husband Dan is a project manager at Midwest Glass in Brookings, SD. He has been there for almost 4 years. As for me (Jenn) I am still a student, you would think I would be done now. I am trying to get done. I am currently a senior at Dakota State University in Madison, SD. I am majoring in K-8 Elementary Education. I am currently waiting to take my content exam in March, so I can student teach in the fall. I have this semester off so I thought I would try and get a job to help us out a little bit and I was successfull in finding one. I will be working at Children's First Step Learning Center in Brookings, SD as a head teacher. The best thing about it is that Tyler gets to go with me, so that will be nice. Its a daycare that has infant to school age kids. I am looking forward to starting my new job. My first day is tomorrow (Wednesday). Its a training day then I will start on Monday full time. Now, we are on to our son Tyler, he is almost 16 months old and a very busy boy. He never likes to slow down. He is always on the go. He is growing so fast and I enjoy every minute even though we have our tough times.

Currently I have been home with Tyler and he is really testing my patience. I think he is going into his terrible two's early. Well, today he thought it would be funny to keeping doing something that his mom has already said no too. What he does is he goes behind our recliner where he can get to the coffee table and an outlet. Dan and I keep telling him NO, you don't belong back there. Well, Tyler is having a hard time understanding the word NO. Today, I about had it. I kept telling him no and pulled him out behind the chair and said no, well what does he do he goes right back there, but he does it slowly and then looks around the chair to see if I notice him. Then when I pulled him out for the fifth time I put him in the middle of the room and said no, you are not suppose to be back there. That was the end because he just started screaming and went to his stomach and started kicking his legs. He was acting like the world was ending. After he was done with his crying he thought it was time for a nap. Tyler has been really good about getting his blanket and going to the fridge to get a bootle and then to his room for his nap. All I have to say is "nap time." Tyler has came a long ways from fighting me to go to sleep to now he is mostly doing everything on his own. He still doesn't sleep through the night :(

He is getting better. Well, This all I have for now. I will try and post everyday. I was going to try and write a journal this year so then Tyler can read it when he gets older, but I thought this would be better. I will try and post some pictures when I figure out how to do it.
